In Home Echocardiograms Suffolk CountyEchocardiograms

An echocardiogram is a diagnostic procedure that uses high-pitched sound waves to create an image of the heart to be viewed on a computer screen, the same technology used for ultrasound exams. This procedure can allow your doctor to evaluate the size, strength and function of the heart and identify any abnormalities. There are several different types of echocardiograms, which can be used to diagnose conditions such as high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, congenital heart defects and other heart conditions. This noninvasive procedure can be safely and effectively performed in your home and is considered safe for all patients.

Defibrillator Evaluations

Defibrillators are commonly used as a treatment for patients with an abnormal heart rhythm. These devices are implanted under the skin of the upper chest and are connected to the heart to monitor its rate and deliver electrical shocks when needed. To ensure that a patient’s defibrillator is working properly, routine evaluations are needed. These evaluations include an electronic analysis of the defibrillator and are performed every three to six months to determine the remaining battery life, functioning and shocks performed for the patient’s individual device.

Thyroid Testing

Home Thyroid Testing Suffolk CountyDiagnosing thyroid disease usually involves several different tests in order to rule out any other potential conditions and provide an accurate diagnosis. Aside from performing a physical evaluation and medical history, your doctor will also perform blood tests, imaging tests, biopsies and more in order to diagnose conditions such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease and thyroid cancer. Saliva testing and urinary testing may be performed as well, and many of these tests can be effectively performed in your home, eliminating the hassle of visiting a hospital or separate laboratory facility for older patients.

Pacemaker Evaluations

People who suffer from symptoms from an abnormally slow heartbeat may benefit from an artificial cardiac pacemaker, a device that tracks the heartbeat and maintain an adequate frequency to allow oxygen and nutrients to flow through the body.

While a pacemaker provides many benefits to people with an abnormal heartbeat, it also requires them to follow many precautions and adjust to life with a pacemaker.  Implantation of the device may cause temporary side effects such as fever, pain and swelling, but most people recover within a few weeks.  The pacemaker can be negatively affected by certain electrical sources such as MRI scanning tests, certain cell phones or security detector gates found in stores.  Most household appliances are safe, but it is important to discuss these factors with your doctor in order to achieve uninterrupted effective results from your pacemaker.

X-Ray and Medical Imaging Studies

We order and coordinate all medical imaging studies, including traditional x-rays, mammography, CT, MRI, ultrasonography and echocardiograms. Many but not all of these studies can be done in your home.

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)

Hands-on care using gentle techniques. OMT can ease pain, promote healing and increase mobility for both acute and chronic illness.
